The name of my act/character/persona:
The name of my act is Lip Syncing. The character that I would be playing as is a male singer named Wu Yifan, also known by his stage name as Kris Wu. He is a Chinese-Canadian. He was in a Kpop group but left after a few years to continue as a solo artist and actor.
The song that I would be lip syncing is called July and it is sang in English but it still has a Kpop style in it. Kris Wu has that cold, stoic , mysterious persona and he is often miscomprehended. Since Kris Wu decided to go as a solo male artist, he has gained immense success and had gone on many amazing endeavours.
I also looked at another solo artist named Jay Park, who is a korean. Some of his songs are sang in English and some are sang in Korean.
I thought it would be a good idea to lip sync to one of his songs in English because so that the audience understands it better. The reason why I might choose to lip sync to Jay Parks songs instead of Kris Wu is because I feel like I would be stepping out completely from my comfort zone. Jay Parks songs are a bit more sexual than Kris Wu's songs and this would make me feel uncomfortable to perform in front of an audience but I want to challenage myself and see what i'm able to do.

A brief overview of the history of the act:
I have chosen that my act should be Lip syncing. Lip syncing is a technical term for matching a speaking or singing person’s lip movements with pre-recorded sung or spoken vocals that listeners hear. Lip syncing is considered a part of miming. It can be used to make it appear as though actors have substantial singing ability, to simulate a vocal effect that can be achieved only in the recording studio. Lip syncing has also been popular as a form of musical pantomime, in which performers mime to pre-recorded music for entertainment. It is often performed by drag performers (drag queens and drag kings).
Lip syncing is usually performed in live performance, movies and TV shows. There are some famous TV shows that involve Lip syncing, which are: late night show Jimmy fallon and the Lip syncing battle. Both of the shows bring famous celebrates and compete with each other to see who is the best at lip syncing .

What will happen during the act?
One of Kris Wu’s music video is shown a bit dark and has blue lights and that song would be the one I will be lip syncing to. So I want it to be a bit dark too and have a few lights on from different directions . While I am lip syncing, I would be also dancing and to try to not stay in one position because that could loose the audience focus on me. I think the performance could look better if I had some back dancers, to make it look more alive.
For the costume, I would dress as a drag king and have a similar style on how Kris Wu looked in his music video “July”. I would be also wearing a wig to look like a male. I would be wearing make-up because some artists wear make-up while performing. The make-up would involve having eye shadow on and other simple make-up.

Make-up and costume:
The elements that I need to work on:
The elements that I need to work on are: staging( include some dance moves to make the performance look better, work on costume to look like a drag king, have some make-up on because some male celebrities put make-up on their music videos or even a live performance and even though I will be only lip syncing to the song, I need to still know the lyrics because I need to make it look realistic as if I'm actually singing the song.

Performing dates:
The final performance would be on 12th June (TBC), mock exam would be on the 22nd May and the final performance would be on 27th June.
I would have approximately an 1 hour each day of rehearsals. The rehears would be based on practicing the dance that are shown in the music video, learn the lyrics to make the lip syncing look better and towards the end, I will be practicing with the costume so that I am well prepared for the day of the final performance (27th June).
