The historical origins of variety performance:
A variety show is entertainment made up of a variety of acts and the main performance would be musical and comedy. There are more than just one variety performance and they are magic, animal, circus acts, acrobatics, juggling, and ventriloquism. Variety in the UK evolved in theaters and music halls, and later in Working Men’s Clubs. During the 1960s and 1970s, there were also numerous one-time variety specials. Variety shows began to fade from popularity during the 1970s, when research began to show that variety shows appealed to an older audience that was less appealing to advertisers.
By the late 1970s, even these generally celebrity-driven variety shows had mostly ended production, in part because of audience burnout. By the early 1980s, the few new variety show being produced were of remarkably poor quality. By the 21st century, the variety show format had fallen out of fashion, due largely to changing tastes and the fracturing of media audiences that makes a multiple-genre variety shows impractical.

Through the format had faded in popularity in prime time, it thrived in late night. The variety shows of this day part eventually evolved into late-night talk shows, which combine variety entertainment with the aspects of a talk show. Variety refers to any type of performance that an audience may find entertaining. Variety performers use a range of skills to develop material that they can present to an audience as an act.
My variety performance would be based on lip syncing. The historical origins for lip syncing are: Lip Sync Battle actually owes a lot to drag queens. Since time immemorial, drag queens have perfected, owned and revolutionised the art of lip sync. Lip syncing is actually considered as part of miming. Lip syncing does not just have to be about entertaining the audience and comedy but it can also have a serious message to inform the audience. Lip syncing is basically wordlessly miming someone's else's words, taking on someone else's vocal talent and indulging in someone else's emotional aerobics.
